Holed up in your room for 3 days straight? Here are 5 ways to kill time

If you’re held up in your room for a long time, here are some suggestions that might help let time pass by without you noticing it.

But first, a little background. I have stayed in my room for almost 3 days straight as of this moment. The reason for this is primarily due to inclement weather here in the Philippines. This is a weird phenomenon, what we’re experiencing right now.

There’s no typhoon, no tropical storm near us and yet, the wind whips and rain lashes. Maring (International Code Name: Trami) is way up in the North, near Batanes and Taiwan, yet we, here in the city of Makati, still are experiencing the effects as if Maring is right smack in the neighborhood.

According to rappler.com, this is due to the monsoon rains being enhanced by Maring. And a lot of us are affected in one way or another: be it boredom with nothing else to do, or life-threatening scenarios.

I thank the Lord that I am now writing this blog and not swimming in the flood waters some place else.

So let’s begin with the countdown, shall we?

Number 5: Kill time by connecting to your social media

Most of us get too busy during the weekdays fulfilling our roles in society that we forget we are the most social animal species in the world.

When life gives extended weekends like the ones I’m having now, you’re being given an excuse not to think of work too much. Use this time to reconnect with friends.

Plus, you’d also get updates on how the weather is improving (or not).

Number 4: Kill time by playing the games you’ve downloaded but have not had the time to play

There are loads of people who download games, but who never get the time to play. I am guilty of this. Whenever I visit the App Store, I browse for the latest free games (I don’t pay for the games I play) and install those that pique my interest. So, better grab your phone/tablet/thingamajig, and play the hours away. You won’t notice it will soon be nighttime.

Added bonus: You forget to eat. This is if you’re trying to lose weight. (Haha..)

Number 3: Kill time by dancing in the rain

As children, we all loved to bathe in the rain. I remember running along with my cousins in one of those rainy afternoons. We would play Dakpanay (tag, in English) and have hours of fun under the rain: mud and stained clothes included (to the headaches of our mothers).

But if you’re living in the Metro, do this at your own risk (of being infected with leptospirosis, or a ringworm to say the least).

Number 2: Kill time by reading up on news

On a more serious note, you can use this extremely long weekend to read up on the news and updates affecting your city, locality, country or the world.

If you do this, I pray that you don’t take everything in and consider all those news articles as truth. Most of them aren’t. As a close friend of mine would always say, take everything with a grain of salt.

Number 1: Kill time by (Yes, you got that right!) SLEEPING

How many hours of sleep do we tend to lose during those task-filled days? How many hours of sweet, luscious sleep lost to running after deadlines?

There are many reasons why we lose sleep: huge doses of caffeine hiding in cups upon cups of coffee, losing yourself in a make-believe world concocted by your fave author, being in love (awww… 😀 ), or those horror flicks of the Conjuring type (which still plays back even, and especially, when you close your eyes to the world.)

If you’re faced with long weekends, give in to the lull of boredom. Close your eyes to the world. Do away with those cups of insomnia, those books of sleepless nights, those hack-and-slash, appear-disappear types of movies.

So there you have it, folks!

Number 5: Connect to your social media

Number 4: Play games you’ve downloaded

Number 3: Dance in the rain

Number 2: Read up on News

Number 1: SLEEP!

On a side note, I sincerely believe that every time I open my window, then winds pick up and the rain starts to pour again. Here are some pictures I took, as evidence:

Took this shot when I noticed the sky lightening and rain stopped.

Took this shot when I noticed the sky lightening and rain stopped.

Seconds later...

Seconds later…

So, for the benefit of my fellow Filipinos, I shall have my windows remain closed (until Maring vanishes into China, or oblivion) and take this time to do Number 1. Stay safe, everyone! 😀

  1. Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That’s right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin

Chris I’ve tried to download gns3 workbench and all the files listed in the 5.8 folder have downloaded without any problem but GNS3 WorkBench-f001.vmdk.zip downloads only 703 mb opposed to 737 mb as listed although the download finishes without any errors but when I try to extract the zip it fails on 99% with a CRC error.I’ve download it with opera, chrome&IE and also with download manager but its the same story every time.I really need it to prepare for my CCNA.So could you please see into the matter as soon as possible.

Leave your thoughts, let's discuss! :)
